Brock Washington is a Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with almost 20 years of martial arts experience. Having started jiu-jitsu in 2007, his experience in training and coaching crosses 3 decades.
Brock brings extensive experience in instruction, mentorship, and leadership through his career in the United States Army, where he currently serves as a Master Sergeant. His paths in martial arts and military leadership have consistently overlapped throughout his life and career.
12 years ago, while serving overseas, Brock worked as an instructor within the Army Combatives Program. During that time, he coached and mentored a young white belt named Dillon Fraley — beginning a mentorship and friendship that would continue long after deployment. Today, that shared foundation in discipline, resilience, and martial arts remains a core part of the culture built inside 5 Star Jiu-jitsu.
Brock brings a disciplined, methodical coaching style centered on high-percentage jiu-jitsu and pressure-tested application. He emphasizes deep teaching, precise mechanics, and the ability to identify the clearest path to success in live situations. His goal is to help students build not just techniques, but dependable habits and decision-making they can trust under pressure.
